"Pressing the shutter release is just the beginning of a journey, for using my digital darkroom is as important a component in my work as photography itself. In this manner, I build up images much as a painter does, by layering color and light, creating depth and richness, and unleashing emotional undertones. There are times when I have a very definite idea of where I want to go, and getting there provides great satisfaction. Other times, the image out of my camera offers up only hints of the potential waiting to be discovered. Regardless of which process is at work, I delight in the act of creating images."
